Warning signs (red flags)
- Recurrent (recurring) pain on urination + man → think of: Cystitis (inflammation of the urinary bladder); here, further diagnostics may be required; in case of: painless macrohematuria (visible blood in the urine) + symptoms of an “irritable bladder” such as frequent urination, dysuria (pain during urination), pollakiuria (urge to urinate frequently without increased urination) → think of: Urinary bladder carcinoma (bladder cancer).
- Balanitis (glans inflammation) + stuck preputium (foreskin) → think of: Penile carcinoma
- Blood discharges from the urethra (urethral) + hematuria (blood in the urine) → think of: Urinary stone; malignant neoplasm.
- Candidabalanitis (acorn inflammation) due to candida/yeast fungus) → think of: Diabetes mellitus
- Rectal pain → think of: Prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate)
