Peritonitis: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) is an important component in the diagnosis of peritonitis (inflammation of the peritoneum).

Family history

  • What is the general health of your family members?

Social history

  • What is your profession?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Are you experiencing pain? If yes, when does the pain occur?
  • Where is the pain localized? Does the pain radiate?
  • How long has the pain been present? Did they occur acutely or have they slowly intensified?
  • Does the pain occur spasmodically?
  • Do you have a fever?*
  • Have you noticed any circulatory impairments (rapid pulse, dizziness)* ?
  • Are you currently collapsed?*
  • Have you noticed any other symptoms?
  • What was the last food you ate? When did you eat?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Have you noticed any changes in bowel movements and/or urination? Quantity, frequency, shape, color, admixtures, etc.?

Self history including medication history.
