Medical history (history of illness) is an important component in the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis (Pfeiffer’s glandular fever).

  • Have you been able to identify a rash in the mucosal area?
  • Do you have a rash (papules) that occurs mainly on the arms and trunk of the body?
  • Do you have other symptoms such as bad breath, sore throat, lymph node enlargement (especially under the armpit)?
  • Do you suffer from fatigue?
  • Do you have muscle pain?
  • Do you have difficulty swallowing?
  • Do you have any other complaints?
  • How long have these symptoms existed?
