Effects

Piracetam (ATC N06BX03) has an effect on cognitive ability and has hemorheologic properties. The half-life ranges from 4 to 6 hours.

Indications

  • Treatment of cognitive disorders in the elderly (exception: Alzheimer’s disease).
  • Treatment of dyslexia in children from the age of 8 in conjunction with appropriate measures such as speech therapy.
  • Treatment of cortical myoclonia in combination with antiepileptic drugs.

Dosage

According to the professional information. Medicines are taken two to three times a day before meals.

Adverse effects

The most common possible adverse effects include nervousness, irritability, insomnia, tremor, depression, and drowsiness.
