Polihexanide (C8H19N5, Mr = 185.3 g/mol) is a biguanide derivative.

Effects

Polihexanide (ATC D08AC05) has bactericidal and fungicidal properties.

Indications

For antiseptic wound treatment and prophylaxis of bone and soft tissue infections.

Adverse effects

Possible adverse effects include hypersensitivity reactions. There is a risk of cartilage damage.
