The following symptoms and complaints may indicate polyarthrosis:
- A feeling of tension in the joints
- Joint swelling
- Joint stiffness
- Initial pain (start-up and run-in pain common in osteoarthritis of the knee joint) [typical of osteoarthritis is: no discomfort at rest].
- Load pain
- Continuous pain (constant and night pain common in osteoarthritis of the knee).
- Muscle tension due to gentle posture
- Crepitation in the joint (joint noises)
- Increased sensitivity of the joints to cold
- Effusion formation (with inflammatory activation)
- In the late stage deformations, muscle shortening and resulting functional impairments, movement restrictions.
