Preparations | Yohimbine

Preparations

Preparations with yohimbine are not only available in tablet form in different dosages. In addition to drops, there are also teas that contain yohimbine, which can also have a potency-enhancing effect if taken regularly.

Method of application

When using yohimbine, it should be noted that taking the active ingredient does not immediately result in an erection-promoting effect. It usually takes one to two weeks before the increase in potency is really noticeable. The corresponding preparation, i.e. the drops or tablets, should be taken up to three times a day.

Care must be taken to ensure a sufficient fluid intake when taking the product. It is best to take the tablets with a large glass of water. Drops are either put on a spoon and then drink water or the drops are put directly into a glass of water.

Side effects

The side effects caused by yohimbine are very diverse due to its mode of action. The complaints affect the most diverse organ systems. Nausea, dizziness and vomiting, as well as loss of appetite, mainly affect the digestive tract.

Other undesirable effects such as nervousness, sleep disorders, tremors or restlessness are more psychological or central nervous (originating in the central nervous system) nature.Blocking the activity of the sympathetic nervous system can also lead to low blood pressure and breathing difficulties due to a narrowing of the bronchial tubes (bronchospasm) and the resulting reduction in performance. Low blood pressure often leads to symptoms such as tiredness, weakness or, in the worst case, fainting. As with any other drug substance, there are hypersensitivity reactions and allergies, including anaphylactic shock, when yohimbine is taken.

Interactions

Interactions with other drugs also occur frequently when taking yohimbine preparations. For example, the substance can enhance the effect of psychotropic drugs or antidepressants by increasing the concentration of the other drugs in the bloodstream. Even if opioids (strong painkillers) are taken at the same time, interactions such as an increased concentration of the drugs in the blood can occur.

It is therefore generally recommended to consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking medication together because of possible undesirable interactions. Similarly, before consuming alcohol and operating machinery or driving a car, it is advisable to find out about any possible adverse effects of the medication taken, unless this is stated in the package insert.
