Prevention

In order to prevent lumbago, you should behave in a back-friendly manner in everyday life. However, back-friendly behavior is not gentle behavior. A healthy back should be mobile in all directions.

However, if the demands of everyday life are high, it should be considered how the strain on the back can be minimized. Back-friendly lifting, i.e. lifting from the legs, with a straight back, carrying heavy objects close to the body and other rules from back school can be helpful. The workplace equipment can also protect against long-term incorrect strain.

The placement of desk, chair and PC, for example, can have a great influence on the health of our back. Here too, however, it is true that sitting upright at all times and sitting straight is not necessarily good for the back. Dynamic sitting benefits our back much more.

In summary, it should be avoided to constantly expose the back to the same or very heavy loads. For this purpose, back-friendly mechanisms should be learned in order to avoid straining overloads. During everyday stress the back should be challenged to its full extent of movement.

It is not always necessary to sit up straight, not everything with a straight back has to be lifted, but with heavy loads, care should be taken not to strain the back too much too often. Everyday tensions can be released independently with a fascial roll. Postural weaknesses must be trained.

Cause

The cause of lumbago is not always clearly defined. In most cases there is already a long-term stress on the tissue, but this goes unnoticed and is asymptomatic. A one-time overload can lead to a sudden functional disorder.

A blockage in a vertebra, a tense and additionally strained musculature are frequent causes of lumbago. Often, however, it is not possible to define the exact structure that causes the pain. One speaks of unspecific back pain.

In most cases, however, a direction of movement or a behavior that causes the pain crystallizes. This can then serve as a reference point to avoid further overloading in everyday life. Basically, however, it is true that after a lumbago the back can be moved completely in all directions again. Topics that might still interest you:
