Fenistil® Gel during pregnancy

Pregnant women should not apply Fenistil® Gel on large areas of the skin. It is also not recommended to apply to open skin areas and wounds. The reason for this is that the gel can get into the blood and thus affect the unborn child.

However, when applied to small, intact areas of skin, no undesirable side effects are to be feared, even during pregnancy. The use of Fenistil® Gel during breastfeeding has been little researched so far. Up to now there have been experiments on rats, where it was shown that dimentines were transferred from the blood into the milk of the rat and were thus also absorbed by the newborn baby.

On the one hand, however, when Fenistil® Gel is applied in the right way, the active ingredient is not present in the blood, so that dimentinden does not pass into breast milk either. On the other hand, it is questionable whether the experiment on rats can be equated with the effect on humans. In principle, it is again important to apply the gel only to small areas and not to wounds. Furthermore, the gel should not be applied to the nipple from which the child drinks.

Can Fenistil® Gel be applied to open wounds?

Fenistil® Gel should not be applied to open wounds, as it can enter the bloodstream through the wounds and have a systemic effect. Especially in newborns and infants, side effects can occur when a high amount of Dimentindens enters the blood. However, since Dimentinden is also used systemically, a low concentration of the active ingredient in the blood is not threatening.

Fenistil® Gel against pain after tattooing

After tattooing, there may be pain and redness at the tattooed skin area. Here Fenistil® Gel can cool and moisturize, which soothes the skin. The pain can also be reduced by the gel, as the histamine-induced sensitization of nerve fibers is reduced. Negative effects when used on tattoos are not known.
