Procedure | Osteopathy for HWS syndrome

Procedure

The course of an osteopathic treatment begins with a thorough examination. Again, the osteopath uses only his hands and relies on his sense of touch. In addition to assessing the general posture and, in the case of cervical spine syndrome, especially the head, neck and shoulder areas, movements are also examined.

By means of these predetermined movement sequences, the osteopath can draw conclusions about tense muscle groups or movement blockages. Osteopathy assumes here that these disturbances inhibit the natural processes in the body and that the body is not able to use its self-healing powers sufficiently. Due to the holistic approach of osteopathy, the rest of the spine as well as shoulder and sternum are also included in the diagnosis.

Each vertebra is examined individually for blockages and muscle tension. Only after this complete examination is completed does the therapy begin with the most restricted vertebra first. Typically, a blockage is resolved in several stages with repeated movements. After the treatment of bony changes, the surrounding structures such as ligaments or muscles and internal organs are then also included in the therapy. In this way, each vertebral body and its surrounding structures are treated individually.

Duration

The duration of a therapy varies greatly. Days to years are possible. The large time intervals between two treatments are also important. In osteopathy, a phase of action for the body of about 1-3 weeks must be observed.

Costs

Meanwhile, the costs of osteopathic treatments are partially or completely covered by some statutory health insurance companies as one of the few alternative healing methods. Private health insurance companies have been covering the costs for quite some time.
