Proctitis (Rectal Inflammation): Examination

A comprehensive clinical examination is the basis for selecting further diagnostic steps:

  • General physical examination – including blood pressure, pulse, body weight, height; further:
    • Inspection (viewing).
      • Skin, mucous membranes and sclerae (white part of the eye).
      • Anus (anus) [reddened mucosa? bulge-like appearance of anus?]
    • Palpation of inguinal lymph nodes (palpation of lymph nodes in the inguinal region)?
    • Digital rectal examination (DRU): examination of the rectum (rectum) and adjacent organs with the finger by palpation[due todifferential diagnoses: anal fissure, anal fistula, hemorrhoidal disease, perianal abscess (encapsulated collection of pus located in the area of the anus)].
  • Dermatological examination – if venereal disease is suspected.
  • Health check

Square brackets [ ] indicate possible pathological (pathological) physical findings.
