Prognosis and prevention
In most cases a cracked tongue heals without any problems within a few days. However, if the changes within the oral cavity persist over a longer period of time, a doctor must be consulted immediately. Since a cracked tongue is in most cases an indication of a pronounced lack of fluid, a sufficient supply of fluid can help to prevent such tongue changes.
