Prognosis | Inflammation of the elbow

Prognosis

The prognosis is of course strongly dependent on the cause of the inflammation, but can be classified as good overall. Most of those affected already benefit from the conservative treatment methods. Surgical intervention is rarely necessary. In a few cases, however, the symptoms can become chronic and require permanent pain treatment or surgery.

Prophylaxis

Sports that put a lot of strain on the elbow should be avoided. If these are nevertheless performed, the following rules can be observed: Warm up well before the sport and stretch the muscles to avoid injuries. If there are signs of pain, take a break and loosen the corresponding muscles.

In addition, an elbow splint can stabilize the joint and thus prevent inflammation of the elbow. If you work in a profession where monotonous activities put strain on the muscles at the elbow (computer workstation), relaxation exercises should always be performed. In physiotherapy or physiotherapy techniques can be learned, which can then be independently incorporated into your everyday life as training.

Regular use of these exercises strengthens the muscles and stabilizes the joint, thus preventing initial or renewed inflammation. In addition, padded pads at the workplace can relieve the forearm and elbow.
