Prognosis | Klippel-File Syndrome

Prognosis

The prognosis is extremely variable and depends strongly on the individual disease severity and any consequential damage that has already occurred. However, the Klippel-Feil Syndrome cannot be treated causally. Also, the symptoms usually increase with age in the context of degenerative changes in the spine.

In terms of life expectancy, Klippel-Feil syndrome has a good prognosis and most patients can lead a largely normal life. Only very rarely is surgery necessary. However, undetected accompanying malformations can lead to serious complications.
