Prognosis of Pulpitis

An early diagnosis and the associated early therapy are essential for a good prognosis of the tooth. Untreated, pulpitis would lead to pulp necrosis and ultimately to loss of the tooth. Periodontitis including pulpitis is the most common cause of tooth loss.

A recognized and treated pulpitis generally has a good prognosis. However, it is possible that not all bacteria have been eliminated and inflammation may reoccur. The most important thing for a good prognosis is your own cooperation through very good oral hygiene. Furthermore, regular follow-up appointments with the dentist should be observed.
