Prognosis | Skin itches during and after sunburn

Prognosis

Sunburn also greatly increases the risk of skin cancer by damaging the genetic material (DNA) of skin cells, which is why adequate protection against UV radiation is very important. The sunburn prophylaxis is already successful with few and simple measures, the most important of which is to avoid sunbathing. During the midday sun from 12 to 15 o’clock direct sunlight should be avoided.

This is achieved by staying in the shade and wearing long, thin clothes and a sun hat. It is also important to regularly apply sunscreen with a sufficiently high sun protection factor. To prevent sunburn, it is helpful to accustom the skin slowly to the sun so that it has enough time to form the body’s own sun protection pigment melanin.
