Prognosis | Spinal canal stenosis in the cervical spine

Prognosis

The prognosis of spinal stenosis depends on the extent of the existing symptoms and complaints. Patients with mild symptoms and less pronounced changes in the spine can already benefit greatly from conservative therapy. By contrast, patients with paralysis or pain that has already existed for years can usually only be treated surgically.

However, even surgery does not guarantee complete freedom from pain. Severe paralysis and feelings of numbness are also not always completely removable. In particular, spinal stenoses in the cervical spine often cannot be treated completely without pain. However, in cases of moderate pain and slight sensitivity disorders, very good results can often be achieved with a quick start to therapy.
