Prognosis

Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a temporary memory disorder that stops of its own accord after a maximum of 24 hours. In contrast to a memory disorder caused by a stroke or cerebral hemorrhage, the prognosis for TGA is good. No consequential damage remains. The retentiveness is not affected by a TGA. However, up to 20% of patients may experience a recurrent TGA episode in the course of the disease.
