Psoriasis in pregnancy

Psoriasis in pregnancy should be treated locally if possible. Systemic treatment may result in damage to the placenta with placental medication. If psoriasis is known, the treating gynecologist should be informed and a treatment plan should be drawn up together with the treating dermatologist.

It is possible that the hormonal changes during pregnancy may cause the relapses to cease. Here too, however, it is necessary to check during pregnancy. It should be noted that if there are no relapses during pregnancy, a strong relapse may follow after the end of the pregnancy.

In this case, after delivery, early signs of a relapse should be sought and treated with medication. The treating gynaecologist should also be informed about the medication after delivery to ensure that it is harmless during the breastfeeding period. It may be necessary to stop breastfeeding if the patient is taking medication during the breastfeeding period.
