Psoriatic Arthritis: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis.

Family history

  • Is there a frequent history of skin disease in your family?
  • Are there frequent diseases of bones/joints in your family?

Social history

  • Is there any evidence of psychosocial stress or strain due to your family situation?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Distribution of skin lesions (extensor sides of extremities, knees, skin folds, scalp, sacral region (sacral region), anal region)?
  • Do you have nail changes?
  • Do you have increased joint pain and/or joint swelling in fingers and/or toes?
  • Do you have pain in the tendons?
  • Have the complaints occurred unilaterally or symmetrically?
  • Are the movements of the affected joints restricted?
  • Have you noticed morning stiffness of the affected joints?
  • Have you noticed any lump formation in the area of the affected joints?
  • Do you suffer from deep-seated back pain?
  • Do you suffer from dry eyes and / or mucous membranes?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Do you smoke? If yes, how many cigarettes, cigars or pipes per day?
  • Do you drink alcohol? If yes, what drink(s) and how many glasses per day?
