Pulling in the chest while breathing in

If the pulling occurs in the chest during inhalation, this speaks against an organic cause of lung or heart. Respiratory pain often originates from the ribs, muscles or superficial nerves. Particularly in the case of rib contusions and broken ribs, breathing can sometimes become unbearably painful.

Sufficient painkillers to calm the pain must be taken to allow normal breathing. If there is no such fracture, the cause is nevertheless often to be found on the rib cage. In most cases, harmless nerve irritations, muscle strains or muscle tensions are behind it.

Is that a pregnancy sign?

Breast pulling is a very typical sign of pregnancy. After about 5 weeks the breast changes noticeably and becomes heavier. The reason for this is hormonal changes in the body that occur when the embryo implants in the uterus. The body is prepared for pregnancy, which causes the breast to grow and change.

Most of the fatty tissue in the breast is transformed into functional glandular tissue, which produces maternal milk. The growth displaces the surrounding subcutaneous tissue and leads to tightening and pulling.

Pulling in the chest after alcohol

A pulling in the chest after alcohol consumption is no cause for acute concern. Especially with younger people heart attacks are very unlikely and even after alcohol consumption a heart problem does not appear too quickly. Much more often the pain is caused by the stomach.

Heartburn after alcohol consumption is not uncommon. This can lead to unpleasant, diffuse pain in the chest. Much less frequently, however, the pulling in the chest can be due to the liver. After a more frequent strain on the liver, it can swell up due to the consumption and press on the diaphragm. This can lead to unpleasant pain in the costal arch and is a good reason to avoid alcohol.
