The parent plant is the raspberry L. from the rose family. It is known mainly for its fruits. However, in pharmacy, it is mainly the leaves that are used.

The raspberry leaves (Rubi idaei folium), the dried leaves of the plant, are used as a medicinal drug.

Effects
Preparations of raspberry leaves have antidiarrheal and astringent (astringent and tanning) properties.
Indications for use
Preparations of raspberry leaves are traditionally used for diarrhea and for inflammation of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa because of the tannins. Raspberry leaves are also commonly taken as a tea during late pregnancy to facilitate childbirth (pre-natal tea).
