Introduction
Iron deficiency can manifest itself through brittle and brittle nails. Especially in connection with other symptoms, how can the changes on the nail be a decisive indication of the lack of iron in the body. Affected persons should be however reserved with hasty conclusions, since there are also a multiplicity of other lack symptoms and illnesses, which can lead to changes at the nail. Iron anaemia can be detected quickly and reliably by checking the iron in the blood.

These changes makes iron deficiency in the fingernails
Nails, like other tissues, are dependent on a supply of nutrients. In the case of iron deficiency anemia, the supply is insufficient and changes in the nail occur due to the nutrients. Indications for the presence of iron deficiency can be grooves in the nails or brittle, flaking nails.
Curved nails can also be seen in the context of anemia. Furthermore, sunken nails, the so-called spoon nails, are a sign of an undersupply of iron to the organism. Like the skin, I can also present a pale nail bed in the context of iron deficiency. If affected persons notice the changes in their nails described above, it may be worthwhile to see a doctor. The doctor can determine the iron levels in the body of the affected person by means of a blood test and then use the values to draw conclusions about iron deficiency anemia.
Grooves in the nails
Long running grooves in the nails do not have to have a health cause. In many people they occur naturally, especially in the process of aging they occur more frequently. However, the grooves can also be an indication of an undersupply of iron.
However, this is an unspecific symptom. However, if those affected are affected by the formation of grooves on the nails and also experience other symptoms typical of iron deficiency anemia, a visit to a doctor is recommended. The doctor can then determine an iron deficiency on the basis of blood values.
Frequently the affected persons feel the nail change as disturbing and wish an improvement. If the doctor diagnoses an iron deficiency anaemia, the appearance of the nail can be positively influenced by balancing the iron. If the iron deficiency is balanced, the nail can grow back properly and the grooves are no longer a problem.
