Red spots on the belly

Introduction

Red spots on the belly can have various causes. A red spot can appear isolated at a skin area or it can also occur in the context of a disease. The rash can appear suddenly and quickly or develop unnoticed at first until it finally becomes larger and is clearly visible.

Furthermore, there are different forms of appearance:

  • It can appear as smaller red dots that appear with or without itching
  • Quads can form, which are raised and of different sizes.
  • More unpleasant forms are blisters and purulent pustules. This results in small blisters filled with tissue fluid, which may also itch unpleasantly. Scratching them can cause the blisters to open and become inflamed.
  • A dry skin rash with extensive redness and scaly skin may occur. If the rash is accompanied by constant itching, the rash is also called eczema.
  • In some cases, where the itching is caused by an underlying disease, fever and general feeling of sickness may also be present as additional side effects. A rash on the stomach, the cause of which is unknown, should be clarified by a doctor.

Causes

Red spots on the belly can have many different causes. In addition to allergies to medications such as antibiotics, different foods or their ingredients, a number of infectious diseases can also cause a rash. Furthermore, a new detergent or even new clothes can also cause a rash.

Some infectious diseases can also cause red spots on the stomach. These infectious diseases can be caused by viruses or bacteria. Typical viral childhood diseases include chickenpox, rubella, rubella ring and measles.

Scarlet fever on the other hand is caused by bacteria. In adults, viral infections such as hepatitis or herpes zoster are more likely to occur. In addition to these diseases, fungal infections or the resurgence of the pathogen causing chickenpox can also lead to a rash. Furthermore, autoimmune diseases or a pronounced neurodermatitis can also cause a red spot on the abdomen.
