Refigura® and alcohol – is it compatible?

There is no contraindication for the use of Refigura® and the simultaneous consumption of alcoholic beverages. However, alcohol can significantly limit the success of Refigura® and the desired weight loss. Whoever suffers from a sensitive digestive tract or a weak stomach can also have increased side effects such as stomach pain, diarrhoea or flatulence due to the simultaneous consumption of alcohol. However, there is nothing to be said against moderate alcohol consumption and the taking of Refigura®.

At what age can I start taking Refigura?

Since it is a weight loss product, the intake of Refigura® is generally only recommended in cases of overweight. The product was designed and developed for adults. Children should not take it, even if the manufacturer does not provide any information about this. If not otherwise prescribed by a doctor, Refigura® is not suitable for use under 18 years of age.

May I take Refigura® during pregnancy/breastfeeding?

The manufacturer of Refigura® is expressly against the use of the product in pregnancy and lactation. This has different reasons. According to the manufacturer no nutrients should be withheld from the child by taking Refigura®.Another reason is that there are no controlled studies on the use of the product in pregnancy and lactation. This means that a pregnant or breastfeeding woman cannot be assured that there is no risk of harm to the child. Therefore, one should refrain from using the product during pregnancy or breastfeeding for the reasons mentioned above.

Alternatives to Refigura®

Apart from Refigura®, there are a number of other products that are also offered to support weight loss. A well-known product is for example “Formoline L112”. Similar to Refigura®, “Formoline L112” also contains active ingredients based on the substance chitosan.

It is to likewise bind calories and fats and to work against so a weight increase. Alternatively there is also the active substance Orlistat, which has a somewhat different mechanism of action than the products Refigura® or “Formoline L112”. Orlistat inhibits an enzyme in the digestive tract that is responsible for the absorption of fat into the body.

However, unlike many other weight loss products, Orlistat is only recommended in pharmacies and only in cases of very pronounced overweight (>BMI 28). Another well-known product line is “Almased®”. Almased products are an alternative to Refigura®, but differ greatly from the use of Refigura®.

Almased is a powder which is mixed with water to form a shake. The carbohydrate-protein shake replaces, depending on the diet plan, meals and should thus help to lose weight in the long term.
