Neck tensions can be relieved very well through physical activity. There are sports that are more or less suitable for this purpose or that have different approaches to treating neck tension. Strength sports are considered to be more of a preventive measure, since well-trained neck muscles are less susceptible and more resilient, making the occurrence of neck pain less likely.

In contrast to pure weight training, sports such as swimming and Nordic Walking aim to achieve dynamic loading and improved mobility of the neck – but also shoulder muscles.Nordic Walking, for example, involves the dynamic swinging of the arms, which requires the cooperation of both neck and shoulder muscles. This light strain stretches and loosens the muscles in moderation, so that tensions occur less frequently. Ultimately, the aim of sport is to integrate more movement into everyday life in order to offer the body a balance to constant stress and possible incorrect posture. As already explained, exercise to the right extent and with the right type of sport can be helpful to relieve neck tension, but also to reduce the risk of tension developing in the first place.
