Respiratory Acidosis: Diagnostic Tests

Optional medical device diagnostics–depending on the results of the history, physical examination, laboratory diagnostics, and obligatory medical device diagnostics–for differential diagnosis.

  • X-ray of the chest (X-ray thorax/chest), in two planes – as part of the diagnosis of pulmonary diseases such as obstructive bronchitis or Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).
  • Pulmonary function tests (spirometry (basic examination in the context of pulmonary function diagnostics), etc.) – in the context of diagnostics in lung diseases.
  • Computed tomography of the skull (cranial CT, cranial CT or cCT) – if an underlying disease affecting the brain is suspected.
  • Computed tomography of the thorax/chest (thoracic CT) – when an underlying lung disease is suspected.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging of the skull (cranial MRI, cranial MRI or cMRI) – if an underlying disease affecting the brain is suspected.
