Retinal Detachment (Ablatio Retinae): Examination

A comprehensive clinical examination is the basis for selecting further diagnostic steps:

  • General physical examination – including blood pressure, pulse, body weight, height; furthermore:
    • Inspection (viewing).
      • Skin and mucous membranes
      • Eyes
  • Ophthalmic examination – including ophthalmoscopy / ophthalmoscopy [due topossible sequelae: Amaurosis (blindness; blindness), proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR; progressive vitreous disease, for example, due to excessive cell proliferation after retinal detachment or severe eye injury)]

It must always be examined also the partner eye.
