In specialized stores, the drug is available in filter bags or also as a component of tea mixtures of the group of cough and bronchial teas. In the field of herbal medicines, ribwort extracts and pressed juices are processed in numerous juices and drops in the group of bronchial therapeutics.

Ribwort plantain: average daily dose

The average daily dose is 3-6 g of the leaves, unless otherwise prescribed.

Ribwort plantain – preparation as a tea

To prepare a tea, 2-4 g of the chopped ribwort leaves (1 teaspoon equals about 0.7 g) are poured over boiling water, left for 10 minutes and finally passed through a tea strainer. However, the leaves can also be prepared with cold water and boiled briefly.

Contraindications

The leaves should not be used in case of known hypersensitivity to ribwort. For initial wound care, fresh, cleaned (!) ribwort leaves can be placed on the fresh wounds and continuously replaced with new ones.

What should be considered during storage?

Ribwort should be stored in a dry place and protected from light. If the freshly harvested leaves are dried too slowly or the leaves are stored too damp (you can tell by the brown discoloration of the drug), the antibacterial effect may be lost.
