Structure and properties
Romifidine (C9H9BrFN3, Mr = 258.1 g/mol) is a dihydroimidazole derivative. It is closely associated with other α2 agonists such as detomidine.
Effects
Romifidine (ATCvet QN05CM93) has sedative and analgesic properties. The effects are due to agonism at α2 receptors in the central nevus system.
Indications
In horses for immobilization for examinations, treatments, and as a premedication for anesthesia.
