Sanguinaria | Homeopathy for migraine

Sanguinaria

Patients express a hemiplegic headache, starting on the right side of the neck and ending above the right eye; in addition, pain in the right shoulder. The seizure often begins in the morning hours and usually occurs periodically (for example, every one or two weeks). During the seizure there is a reduced urine excretion, which is followed by the excretion of much watery urine when the condition improves.

Patients present with a red face and blood rush in the head, nausea, vomiting and feelings of weakness. The pain is described as drilling and throbbing. It is conspicuous that affected persons present themselves as irritable, choleric or in an anxious mood before the attack. The symptoms worsen with movement, noise, bright light and heat. Improvement occurs through counter-pressure and resting in a darkened room or after vomiting and urination.

Gel-semium

Particularly suitable for very sensitive, delicate patients. The seizure is often triggered by excitement, expectation tension or bad news. Typical patients suffer more from stage fright or expectation anxiety; are fearful, despondent or particularly shy.

Before the seizure, they present themselves as irritable, nervous and conspicuously sensitive to noise; furthermore, they suffer from blurred vision, flickering and double vision. During the seizure, they suffer from spinning dizziness, as if there were no solid ground under their feet, as well as swaying walking and buzzing noises in their ears. The pain is pulsating and constricting, usually beginning in the neck and stretching over the entire head towards the forehead.

The pain improves after urination, as well as through rest, distraction and silence. Furthermore, the pain decreases when the upper body is elevated. However, the symptoms are aggravated by heat and sunlight, bright light, fear, fright, anxiety and mental agitation.

In addition, patients express a worsening in the morning hours, as well as during exercise and tobacco exposure. Gelsemium is usually taken as tablets in pack size D6 for migraine; prescription is required up to D3. For further information about Gelsemium, please see our topic: Gelsemium
