Scabies: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of scabies (scabies).

Family history

  • What is the general health of your relatives?
  • Do family members/other contacts also have sudden onset itchy skin lesions?

Social history

  • Do you have frequent and prolonged close physical contact with others in your professional or personal life?

Current anamnesis/systemic anamnesis (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Since when did the skin changes occur?
  • How long have you been suffering from itching?
  • Does the itching intensify when you are lying in bed?
  • Where are these skin lesions located? Note: In young children, the hairy head or face may also be affected.

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Do you pay attention to good personal hygiene?

Self history including medication history.

  • Pre-existing conditions (infections, skin diseases)
  • Operations
  • Allergies
  • Medication history
