Shoulder Dislocation: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of shoulder dislocation.

Family history

  • Are there any diseases of the bones and joints in your family that are common?

Social history

  • What is your profession?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Are you experiencing pain? If yes, when does the pain occur?
  • Where is the pain localized?
  • Do you have functional limitations of the affected joint?
  • Do you remember the mechanism of injury?
  • Is it common for the shoulder joint to dislocate? If so, does it reattach on its own?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Do you participate in sports? If yes, which sport discipline(s) and how often weekly?

Self history including medication history.

  • Pre-existing conditions (bone / joint disease).
  • Surgeries (bone/joint surgeries)
  • Allergies
  • Medication history
