SIDE-EFFECT of iWhite Instant

iWhite Instant, like many other whitening creams, contains so-called cleaning agents, ingredients that remove plaque mechanically. In the case of iWhite Instant it is silicic acid, which has an abrasive effect. It also contains citric acid.

Although these substances effectively remove plaque, they can also attack the tooth enamel. The enamel protects the inside of the crown, the dentine, and cannot be replicated by the body. If the enamel is removed by abrasion during brushing or by cleaning agents and chemical processes caused by acidic foods, the darker, sensitive dentin is exposed.

The teeth then appear more yellowish the thinner the enamel is. Whitening products can therefore paradoxically lead to darker teeth. In addition, a thinner enamel layer makes teeth more sensitive, especially to hot, cold, acidic or sweet foods.

The loss of enamel through frequent use of whitening toothpastes can therefore lead to considerable problems. It is better to prevent discoloration than artificial whitening. You should limit your consumption of coffee, tea and red wine and refrain from smoking.

Under the following circumstances iWhite Instant should not be used:

  • If you have an intolerance to any of the ingredients in the product. – Use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended. – The product is also not recommended for children under 14 years of age.
  • The splints must not be used when wearing braces, retainers, tooth jewellery or piercings. – iWhite Instant should also not be used if you have gum problems. – It is not recommended for use if dental or orthodontic treatment has been performed within the last two weeks.

INTERACTION with other medicinal products

For the use of iWhite Instant no interactions with drugs are known. However, it should not be used immediately before or after the consumption of acidic foods, as this can damage the tooth enamel. iWhite Instant should be used for a maximum of five consecutive days; frequent use can increase the risk of tooth enamel loss.

DOSING & APPLICATION iWhite Instant

The iWhite Instant teeth whitening kit contains 10 ready-to-use whitening trays. Before insertion, teeth are gently brushed with a regular toothbrush. A splint is then placed on each of the upper and lower jaw teeth if simultaneous whitening is desired. The mouth is carefully closed, after about 20 minutes the splint is removed and then disposed of. According to the manufacturer, the whitening gel works immediately and should be used for a maximum of five consecutive days.
