Side effects

Overall, the macrolide antibiotics, like Citromax®, are well tolerated. General side effects: allergic skin reactions, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headaches QT time extension due to Citromax®: Citromax® may cause a delay in the electrical conduction of the heart. This can lead to a prolonged QT interval, which in turn can trigger other sometimes life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias.

For this reason, an ECG of the heart should be written before taking the drug and the simultaneous intake of other drugs with this side effect should be avoided. – General side effects: allergic skin reactions, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headaches

Pregnancy and lactation

Use of Citromax® in pregnancy: It is not conclusively clear whether Citromax® causes harm to the unborn child. However, there is currently no contraindication for the use of this drug in pregnancy. Use of Citromax® during breast-feeding: Women can also take Citromax® during breast-feeding.

Sometimes diarrhoea occurs in the infant. It is recommended to pump the milk for the duration of antibiotic use and to breastfeed again from the third day after stopping taking the medicine.
