Side effects of Ichtholan

Ichtholan®, like any drug, can also have side effects. Therefore it is important to discuss with a physician beforehand whether Ichtholan® is suitable for the treatment of the skin disease or whether the physician advises to take another drug. In rare cases, i.e. in less than 1 in 1,000, but more than 1 in 10,000 patients, a patient may not tolerate Ichtholan® and thus intolerance reactions on the skin may become apparent.

These intolerance reactions manifest themselves differently in each patient and can also be of varying severity. However, the skin may itch or burn in areas that have been treated with Ichtholan®. In addition, the skin can become red and painful.

In this case, it is important to remove Ichtholan® from the skin immediately, preferably with lukewarm water and consult a dermatologist immediately. Although the intolerance reaction will usually have no further effects, it is important that the patient goes to the doctor to avoid an allergic reaction and to find a new therapy for the actual pre-existing skin disease. Furthermore, if the patient notices symptoms that were not there before the use of Ichtholan®, he should consult a doctor, as it is possible that the patient may show side effects that are not listed in the package insert. In general, however, Ichtholan® is a drug with very few side effects, which is why it is not available on prescription but only in pharmacies.
