Side effects
Pencivir is generally well tolerated. It must not be used if you are allergic to acyclovir or to drugs containing penciclovir. Here it can come to hypersensitivity reactions.
This includes the occurrence of rashes, hives, itching or water retention, which can appear at the affected area, but also beyond. When using Pencivir, there are occasional reactions of the treated skin areas, such as burning, stinging, or numbness. If severe side effects occur, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted.
Interactions
There is no evidence of interaction with other drugs for Pencivir. If a drug is prescribed, the doctor should be informed about the treatment with Pencivir.
Contraindications – When should Pencivir not be given?
Pencivir should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to Penciclovir or Aciclovir. Pencivir must not be used on mucous membranes in the mouth. Pencivir is not suitable for the treatment of genital herpes. Its use in patients with a weakened or suppressed immune system is also contraindicated. There are no safety data available for use in children under the age of 12 years, Pencivir should not be used in these patients.
Dosage
The price for 2 g Pencivir lip herpes cream in Germany is between five and ten euros. Pencivir is available in pharmacies without a doctor’s prescription.
Pencivir and alcohol – is it compatible?
The moderate consumption of alcohol does not affect the effects of Pencivir. This is true if Pencivir continues to be applied thoroughly and at regular intervals.
Is it possible to take it during pregnancy and lactation?
During pregnancy and lactation, the benefits and risks of drugs should generally be carefully weighed. Patients should consult their physician whenever they are taking medication. Local application of Pencivir in pregnant and nursing mothers seems to be safe. Infants and children should not be exposed to the drug.
Does Pencivir interfere with the effects of the pill?
Local application of Pencivir for cold sores does not affect the effect of the pill.
