Side effects | Solcoseryl® acute

Side effects

In general, Solcoseryl® acute is considered to have very few side effects and is well tolerated. However, hypersensitivity reactions can always occur when taking medication. Frequently, quite harmless skin symptoms such as rashes or itching occur.

Severe allergic effects are accompanied by shortness of breath, in the worst case an allergic reaction can culminate in anaphylactic (allergic) shock. In this case death by cardiovascular failure is imminent. Children under two years of age should not be treated with Solcoseryl® acutely, as the mouth gel also contains peppermint oil. In rare cases, peppermint oil can trigger a laryngospasm in children. This means that the airways are blocked and there is a threatening shortage of oxygen.

Application for aphtae

Aphtae are small, mostly roundish damages in the area of the oral mucosa. The small wounds are caused by external influences, whereby badly fitting dentures or braces again play a role. Nicotine or alcohol consumption or the frequent consumption of acidic food and drinks can favour the development of aphthae.

Symptomatically, aphthae are mainly noticed by pain or a strange feeling when touching with the tongue. Pain caused by aphthae often increases when talking or swallowing. The pain is particularly strong when you eat acidic foods, and sometimes the pain increases to a severe burning sensation. Diagnostically, a look into the own mouth is usually sufficient to recognize an aphthae. Solcoseryl® akut alleviates the pain caused by an aphtha. In addition, the paste forms a kind of protective film that covers the wound and thus protects it.

Is it possible to use it during pregnancy?

During pregnancy, there is always the possibility that medication that is taken will enter the child’s circulation through the placenta. If this happens, the unborn child can also be damaged by the medication. Fetal malformations or a miscarriage are possible consequences of careless handling of medication.

Pregnant women should therefore always consult their doctor about the possible effects of the medication they are taking. Solcoseryl® acute can be used during breastfeeding, but the drug must not be taken during an existing pregnancy.
