Side effects | Urbason

Side effects

The side effects of Urbason® occur mainly during long-term use and result from its numerous effects in the body. These include nausea and vomiting at high doses, weight gain up to truncal obesity, lipid metabolism disorders, cataracts, osteoporosis, diabetes mellitus and psychosis when taken over a long period of time. Hypertension and cardiac arrhythmia may also occur. Sudden discontinuation of cortisone after long-term therapy (longer than three to four weeks) can lead to secondary Addison’s disease (adrenal insufficiency), which is why therapy should be discontinued gradually.

Contraindications

Contraindications for Urbason® are intolerance to one of the active ingredients, special caution is required during pregnancy and lactation, as growth inhibition may occur in children, as well as in osteoporosis, hepatitis, psychosis, difficult-to-control diabetes mellitus and hypertension, and inflammatory skin diseases caused by viruses, bacteria and fungi (tuberculosis, syphilis, chickenpox, herpes zoster).
