Side effects | Zostex and alcohol – is it compatible?

Side effects

Taking Zostex is associated with a number of possible side effects. Concurrent consumption of alcohol can increase the adverse effects, as alcohol itself has strong side effects, some of which overlap with those of Zostex. For example, both Zostex and alcohol can cause inflammation of the liver, loss of appetite or drowsiness, which may increase the side effects.

A common side effect of Zostex is severe nausea. Diarrhea, bloating, and constipation are also occasionally observed. Although there is no direct interaction between Zostex and alcohol, extensive alcohol consumption may cause similar side effects and may further increase the side effects of Zostex.

For example, severe nausea, vomiting, or indigestion may be expected. Taking Zostex may also have side effects on the nervous system. These include, for example, dizziness, discomfort in the arms and legs and headaches, as well as anxiety and sleeping disorders.

Alcohol itself has a neurotoxic effect, which means that its consumption is harmful to the nervous system. This can lead to the above-mentioned neurological side effects being significantly intensified (or even occurring in the first place) by alcohol consumption. It is not known that Zostex enhances the effects of alcohol and therefore has no effect on the alcohol intoxication or subsequent hangover.

However, it should be noted that the body can be severely weakened during shingles, which can lead to poorer alcohol tolerance and a longer recovery time after an intoxication. In order not to further weaken the immune system and the body during the illness, alcohol is not recommended!
