Introduction
Sinupret® is a herbal medicine. It is composed of several herbal remedies. It is available in drop and tablet form.
Sinupret® is not subject to prescription. It can be sold over the counter in pharmacies. Sinupret® has no strong side effects and no special interactions with other drugs. Sinupret® only has a soothing effect when used; it has no bactericidal (killing bacteria) or virostatic (inhibiting the reproduction of viruses) effect.
Indications
Sinupret® drops are used to treat acute and chronic sinusitis. It should be used between 7 and 14 days. If symptoms persist after 14 days, a doctor should be consulted.
In addition to the drop form, it is also available in tablet form. Sinupret® is said to have a mucolytic effect so that the sinuses are freed from blockages. It can be used for colds involving the paranasal sinuses.
Paranasal sinus involvement can be recognized by pains in the forehead, headaches and pain behind the cheek bones when bending the head forward. It is also characterized by an altered voice, since the sinuses are normally resonance chambers for voice formation. If the disease does not regress after 14 days, a doctor should be consulted. This may be a bacterial sinusitis requiring antibiotics.

Sinupret® contains the following active ingredients according to the package insert: These active ingredients are said to have an anti-inflammatory and expectorant effect. Sinupret® drops also contain alcohol. The effect of Sinupret® has been proven in clinical studies for mild sinusitis.

Dosage
Adults and children over twelve years of age should take 50 drops per single dose. The maximum dose for adults is 150 drops per day. Children between two and five years of age should receive 15 drops as a single dose, the maximum dose here is 45 drops. Children between six and eleven years of age should receive a single dose of up to 25 drops, 75 drops is the maximum dose.
