In the case of an incipient boil, the application of ichthyol can promote purulent fusion
If an abscess cavity (pus cavity) is present, it should be drained by a doctor with a stab incision (making an incision with a scalpel) and a drainage (drainage or suction of pathological or increased body fluids) should be placed. This usually leads to healing within one to two weeks. Note: A boil on the face should not be opened.
After that, antiseptic therapy (means to prevent wound infection) should be performed (see below Drug therapy).
If the boil is located on the face, bed rest should be observed; furthermore, soft food should be prescribed
