Skin scales – which disease is behind it?

Skin flakes can have many different causes. The most common cause is dry skin. Dry skin is caused by an insufficient function of the sebaceous glands.

This is why the skin dies more often and the skin particles peel off. Another common cause of dandruff is skin fungus. The skin fungus can occur anywhere on the body, but is usually located in the mouth, genitals or in skin folds. In the worst case, psoriasis, a skin disease with antibody formation, can be the cause of scaly skin. Psoriasis is associated with other physical symptoms and must be treated systemically.

Skin scales through make-up

Make-up should be chosen carefully. Attention should be paid to the condition of the skin and individual tolerance. It is advisable to try out several products and, in case of special problems, to seek the recommendation of your dermatologist.

The biggest problem with make-up with regard to dandruff is that some make-ups dry out the skin particularly well. Here it can help if a covering day cream is used instead of make-up. This cream does not have as much covering power as make-up, but it moisturizes the skin more and does not clog the pores.

This also means fewer pimples. In general, it is important to remove make-up well at night. This should be done with a cleansing milk or oil.

Here, too, care must be taken to ensure compatibility. Strong rubbing should be avoided. If possible, it is recommended to leave off the make-up for a few days in case of scaly skin, so that the skin can recover.

Here it is good to let air into the skin. UV radiation (sun) can also have a healing effect on the skin to a small extent. Of course you should pay attention to the dosage here. If you are exposed to the sun for a longer period of time, it is essential to pay attention to a sun protection factor.Permanent exposure to the sun can cause premature aging of the skin, and the risk of white skin cancer (basalioma) and black skin cancer (melanoma) is increased. Both clinical pictures must be surgically removed and require increased monitoring by the dermatologist.
