Sleep Analysis Quisi

The so-called sleep analysis Quisi (synonym: sleep screening by means of Quisi) is a mobile sleep analysis device used for outpatient examination of sleep. The device is an alternative to conventional sleep monitoring in a professional sleep laboratory. For this reason, the Quisi sleep analysis is suitable for patient screening (comprehensive examination of many patients for preventive detection of diseases) within the general practice.

The aim of the Quisi sleep analysis is to detect insomnia (sleep disorders), which affects about 20% of the population. Insomnia is a condition characterized by both decreased sleep quality and decreased sleep quantity. The lack of sleep negatively affects the patient’s health, well-being, and social environment. Short-term symptoms include:

  • Mood changes
  • Daytime sleepiness
  • Reduced performance
  • Reduced ability to concentrate

In addition to diagnosis, the procedure also allows the patient to choose the most appropriate therapy for each individual.

Indications (areas of application)

  • Objectification of the diagnosis of a sleep disorder
  • Supplementation of inpatient diagnostics
  • Monitoring during therapy with sleeping pills
  • Follow-up and outpatient follow-up of sleep disorders.
  • Screening examination for sleep disorders

The procedure

The sleep analysis is based on the novel technical method of neural network analysis. In this process, a single-channel EEG derivation is used to create the sleep profile (EEG; electroencephalogram: electrical derivation of brain waves), which reliably enables the separation of sleep stages. The handling is kept very simple. An electrode strip is stuck to the patient’s forehead, and the device itself has an operating time of 24 hours. The recorded data can then be read out and analyzed on the computer. The following criteria are used for this purpose:

  • Sleep duration
  • Sleep stages
  • Sleep efficiency
  • Nocturnal awakening

The following influences can be detected by the sleep analysis Quisi:

  • Sleep-inducing pharmaceuticals (medications)
  • Drugs
  • Depression
  • Alcohol
  • Stress (burnout syndrome)

Benefit

Quisi sleep analysis represents a useful method for outpatient sleep analysis. The simple handling, which can be easily done by the patient himself, allows sleep analysis under less costly conditions.
