Ingredients

Sleep teas contain various sleep-inducing and sedative medicinal drugs. These include:

  • Melissa leaves
  • Lavender flowers
  • Passionflower herb
  • Orange blossom
  • Hop cones

Effects

Sleeping teas have sleep-inducing, sedative and anti-anxiety properties.

According to the package leaflet. The teas are drunk before bedtime or at night.

Interactions

The effects of alcohol, sedatives, sleeping pills, and other sedative medications may possibly be increased.

Adverse effects

Adverse effects depend on the composition of the teas. These include gastrointestinal disturbances and allergic reactions, for example. Unlike synthetic agents such as benzodiazepines or Z-drugs, sleep teas are generally well tolerated and dependence is not expected to develop.
