Snoring (Rhonchopathy): Examination

A comprehensive clinical examination is the basis for selecting further diagnostic steps:

  • General physical examination – including blood pressure, pulse, body weight, height; furthermore:
    • Inspection (viewing).
      • Skin and mucous membranes
      • Pharynx (throat) [upper airway changes?, obstructed nasal breathing?]
    • Auscultation (listening) of the heart.
    • Auscultation of the lungs
    • Palpation (palpation) of the abdomen (abdomen) (tenderness?, knocking pain?, coughing pain?, defensive tension?, hernial orifices?, kidney bearing knocking pain?)
  • ENT medical examination – including epipharyngoscopy (reflection of the nasopharynx).
    • Clinical assessment of the morphology of the facial skull.
    • Assessment of flow-related nasal structures [presence of nasal breathing?]
    • Examination of the oropharynx (“oral pharynx).
    • Examination of the oral cavity
  • Health check
