A detailed history (taking of medical history) and physical examination should be performed to identify somatoform disorders. However, examinations that are not absolutely necessary should not be performed. Especially not if only the patient asks for them.

In the event of warnings of avertably dangerous courses, appropriate intervention should be initiated immediately.
Limited alcohol consumption (men: max. 25 g alcohol per day; women: max. 12 g alcohol per day).
