Soy: Effect and Side Effects

Phospholipids are a component of cell membranes and are also involved in numerous metabolic processes in the body. They exert a protective effect on the liver (hepatoprotective effect), because through them cell membranes are stabilized and regenerate faster. Liver diseases can be positively influenced by accelerated liver cell regeneration.

Effect on blood lipid levels

In addition, phospholipids apparently lower blood lipid levels, although the mechanism for this has not yet been conclusively clarified. Discussed in this context is an improved return transport of cholesterol from the blood to the liver.

Soy for menopausal symptoms

Isoflavonoids could have estrogenic effects, that is, mimic the action of the hormone estrogen, which is produced less and less during menopause. This could explain the improvement of menopausal symptoms, but the therapeutic benefit in this direction is evaluated skeptically.

Soy: side effects

In rare cases, gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea or stomach discomfort have been observed when soy lecithin is taken.

Currently, there are no known interactions with other agents or contraindications.
