Special shampoos | How can you accelerate hair growth?

Special shampoos

Today’s advertising is full of products that are designed to stimulate and accelerate hair growth in the shortest possible time with minimal effort. Most of this falls on hair shampoos. If you read through the ingredients of these shampoos, you will find caffeine or caffeine-related substances in most products, regardless of the brand.

The caffeine is supposed to stimulate the blood circulation of the scalp and thus, very similar to a scalp massage, to improve the supply of the hair follicles and thus accelerate hair growth. It is medically proven that caffeine stimulates the blood circulation in general. However, it must be able to reach the desired site of action directly, in this case the hair follicle.

So the thought of adding caffeine to a shampoo is not so bad and shows quite positive results in practice. However, one should not expect miracles, as the advertising often tries to make you believe. It is quite possible that hair growth is stimulated and accelerated a little, but only to a limited extent.

Much more important in terms of shampoo and hair growth is the issue of dandruff. If someone suffers from dandruff, it means that the scalp is extremely dry and therefore sensitive. The hair itself also suffers from a too dry scalp and its growth is inhibited or even stops prematurely.

Special anti-dandruff shampoos can provide the scalp with the missing moisture and thus also have a positive effect on hair growth. If a person suffers from psoriasis in the head and hair area, a dermatologist should be consulted, who can then recommend special shampoos that combat psoriasis and thus also facilitate and stimulate hair growth. In summary, however, it can be said that it is more important to ensure a healthy and well-groomed scalp than to resort to shampoos that promise a short-term effect with the help of caffeine.

Biotin for hair growth

Biotin, also called vitamin B7 or vitamin H, is often mentioned in connection with hair growth. In fact it is a component of keratin and as such is essential for strong and vigorous growth of hair and nails. The human body needs about 20 – 30 micrograms of biotin per day, for pregnant or breastfeeding women it is about 30 – 35 micrograms. These small amounts are usually easily absorbed with food, so a lack of biotin is very rare.

However, if you want to do something good for your hair and stimulate hair growth, you should make sure that you are supplied with sufficient biotin. Much of this vitamin is contained in liver, soybeans and nuts. In drugstores you can find numerous dietary supplements with biotin, often also in combination with silica. However, it has not yet been medically proven that an increase in biotin has a positive effect on hair growth. A deficiency, however, should be avoided in any case if you want to keep your hair healthy and take care of it.
