Speedminton®

A current trend sport is conquering the whole globe from Germany – Speedminton or also called Speed Badminton. Speedminton is a high-speed sport and is composed of various elements from badminton, tennis and squash.

Speedminton: freestyle or according to fixed rules.

Badminton, tennis and squash are among the popular classics among the backstroke games. Now speedminton, a combination of these three sports, provides enthusiasm for young and old. The practical thing about speedminton is its versatility. This sport can be played both indoors and outdoors, according to fixed rules in a marked out playing field or also as a freestyle variant on fields, meadows, streets or even from rooftop to rooftop.

The racket: racket

Played with rackets that resemble the squash racket and are called rackets. Depending on the game requirements, rackets are made of lightweight aluminum or hardened aluminum. The length of 58cm is the ideal basis for ball control, accuracy and maneuverability. The grip center of a racket is due to the length in a so-called vibration node, which is why a very arm-friendly swinging behavior is exercised. There are separate racquets for children.

The ball: speeder

The balls have the name Speeder, which is due to the fact that their material allows them to gain high speed, up to 290 km/h. Speeder are smaller and heavier than traditional shuttlecocks, so they can also fly faster and farther. During the game, a speeder can achieve up to 30m hitting distance.

Game rules

The so-called court, the playing field, has 5.5m on each side, and the distance to the other playing field is 12.8m. Ideally, a tennis court can be staked out and used for speedminton, or in bad weather, a tennis or multi-purpose hall.

A Speedminton match consists of 3, maximum 5 sets and ends with 16 winning points per set. If the score is 15:15, then the game set goes into overtime, decisive for a victory are two points ahead. The first serve and the choice of the side of the court are initially decided by lot.

The player drops the speeder from his hand at waist height and then hits it with the racquet to the opponent. Each player is allowed three serves in a row, then a change takes place. By the way, after each set there is a change of sides.

Points

In speed minton, points are scored when:

  • The serve does not succeed according to the rule.
  • The speeder lands on the ground in the field.
  • The speeder is hit out of bounds.
  • The speeder touches the body.
  • The speeder is hit twice in a row.

If a player, the speeder hit back, although it is outside the field, the speeder is considered accepted.

Speedminton in doubles

In speedminton, in addition to singles, the variant doubles can also be played. The rules from the singles then also apply here, whereby the playing field is subdivided again in a doubles. There is then within a playing field a front and a back, with each change of serve then also the positions within the playing field must be exchanged.

Lots of movement, lots of fun

With speedminton, the whole body gets into tremendous motion and momentum. This is because the enormous speed of a speeder gives the complete game a high tempo. It is an ideal sport for outdoors and indoors. If you want to play speedminton on the beach, you don’t have to be afraid of wind and weather. Special wind rings can be rolled over the speeder’s hitting caps, so a match can be played outdoors even in windy conditions.

By the way, real Speedminton fans play their favorite game at night. There are special Nightspeeders that can be made to glow by means of a bending light in the fluorescent hitting cap and then flicker through the night sky like little shooting stars. By the way, through the fast game, speedminton not only trains fitness and builds muscles, but also shapes the complete body.
